ask me!

I figured since Ix27ve been quite bad at answering your comments lately, that Ix27d have a question post. So ask me anything. My dream destination, Thailand tips, what color to focus on this spring, what piece to invest in, what styling assignment ix27d love to do, whatever! Shoot! Tumnagel

look of the day

Ok so Ix27m sure Ix27ve mentioned plenty of times before how horrible I am when it comes to packing. I end up packing too much of one thing (i.e shoes) and too little of what i really need (panties and tops usually). But this time i really outdid myself. Firstly i bring one pair of shorts, white ofcourse, which get dirty within ten minutes of mountain biking in the jungle, so does the only approvable top i brought as well. Somehow i only managed to pack one more shirt. See through. This is a predominantly Muslim Island. And I donx27t wanna be disrespectful. I had therefor packed a long maxi dress to wear whilst visiting in the village and for dinner, of course the zipper turned out to be broken, and for once i didnx27t have a single safety pin on me, as a stylist I always have safety pins! Too be fair though, I had no idea Ix27d be mountain biking in the deep jungle (dirt track, snakes, the biggest bumblebeex27s youx27d ever see) or kayaking in the mangrove forests, since this was our 5 year anniversary trip, i was for some reason expecting less adventure (call me old fashioned or a romantic). Anyways to cut a long story short. I found an old skirt from H&M in the bag and managed to wear it as a top. Hence, shorts: Hollister, neon top: H&M (skirt), flip flops: Havaianas Tumnagel

kitten

Yesterday our baby kitten got a new home. A family with three kids are taking care of her. I have no doubt theyx27ll have the energy to keep up and play with her just the way a kitten needs. But boy oh boy am I gonna miss that cute little thing! Tumnagel

jungle trek

I have the worst muscle pain after we decided to take an eight km walk uphill (uphill is so much worse!!, otherwise i wouldnx27t be complaining at all.) into the jungle yesterday! Together with the hour gym session the day before itx27s just unbearable! But it was fun, and we ended with walking down to a tiny tiny hidden beach. Now Ix27m gonna try to move my ass down to the kitchen for some breakfast. I got pics to show you guys later. Any secret tips for getting rid of muscle pain quicker? Tumnagel

yachts, coffee, and fireshows

I had such a great day yesterday. We went to the annual boat show to check out some way to expensive yachts that we obviously canx27t afford. But itx27s always nice to dream. Had an amazing cobb salad for lunch. Yes it deserves to be mentioned. Then i headed to the spa for 2 hours of treatments. I had a coffee body detox scrub! The caffeine is meant to tighten and firm the skin. We had a perfect crescent moonlight ! And i ended the night with watching some neighborhood kids performing fireshows. Excellent friday! Tumnagel

fotopix mini me

Found this photo here in a drawer. This is me. A little more than 22 years ago. On the same beach where we have our house now. The difference then was that there was one hotel on the whole beach, and hardly a person in the water. No jet skix27s, no speed boats, no sunchairs. And ofcourse i was a little smaller, but a little chubbier (baby hull) and a little more tanned. Tumnagel

Todays office! Ix27m perched on my bed with all windows open and a fantastic view of the ocean and the sound of longtail boats passing by. Could be worse eh? Thank god for the internet and skype! This way freelancing really does work out anywhere in the world. Ciao for now, Skype meeting awaits! May end this evening on a high note, celebrating with a glass of wine! Tumnagel

year in review twenty-ten

2010 was a big year for me. I rang in the New Year in Thailand with family and friends. Started my fashion stylist course in early February, originally as a hobby, something to look forward to once a week. I ended up loving it so much and coming to the realization that a Stylist was what I really wanted to be & do. My boyfriend and I bought a fantastic apartment, that we are crazy about. Moved in in early May, just in time for spring and to enjoy late nights on the terrace with good friends company. I turned 25 and trough a huge birthday bash at Berns Salonger in Stockholm. My two bestest friends flew in from England and Germany, and my parents surprised me all the way from Thailand. Best night of 2010 for sure. Quit my full time job in HR in early June. A big step after 5 years with a secure job that comes with a regular monthly salary, pension savings, and paid vacation weeks. Got my first big Stylist gig, for the music award show Rockbjörnen. So much fun! I also started working with TV- assisting my stylist teacher with some major productions. My new years resolution for 2010 was to visit 5 new countries. I fell short by one and only made it to four. Holland in February with my best girls from Bangkok, Estonia in June, China in November and fantastic Indonesia in December. I also made it to Thailand twice and England. Got an editorial that I styled published in FIASCO. One of my bestest girls from Bangkok came to Stockholm and spent a long weekend with me in late October. And I ended the year with a long trip to Asia. I have some projects to look forward to come end of January when Ix27m back in Stockholm. And i canx27t wait to share them with you guys! And of course i started bloging here at CarolinesMode in May, wish i absolutley love being able to be a part of! And i hope yax27ll will keep reading and following my updates and posts in 2011 as well. Tumnagel

one

This is the only picture on my camera from the past few days. Oh and, one that i accidentally shot inside my bag. Me and Jeremy. We grew up together in Bangkok. So obviously therex27s been more time for reminiscing, than using the camera. My polka dotted dress, I got the other day for a dollar fifty. (10SEK). Tumnagel

my day

Woke up this morning to an extremely windy and gray day! But it was actually quite nice to skip the sun for a bit. Instead, we watched Wall Street 2, had a long lunch, took a jungle walk, and i just got back from a 2 hour long aromatherapy massage at the spa. Life ainx27t to bad. Tonight is the finale of the regatta, usually therex27s a huge party on the beach next to our house, but judging by the shape of some sailboats (as you can see above) wex27ll see if they stick to those plans. my day

Today Ix27ve spent the day at home, except for a visit to the gym. Itx27s been quite windy in the city today. So itx27s been laundry, cleaning and gym day today. We also managed to book plane tickets. Where to youx27ll find out soon enough. Now Ix27m gonna jump in the tub above and get ready for tonights dinner engagement at one of my favorite non-thai places - Bourbon Street! Youx27d be surprised at how good cajun cooked Kanchanaburi farmed crayfish can be. Yum! Tumnagel

outfit details

Herex27s a close up of what i wore today. My african print dress is from Asos. We spent the day on the other side of the Chao Praya at a friends fantastic house wex27re we cooked dinner for them, and chitchatted about old memories and future plans. The city is lit up beautifully tonight with loads of fireworks to celebrate His Majestyx27s Birthday. The more time Ix27m spending here, the more I want to move back, thats the thing with Bangkok, you either hate it or love it. There is no inbetween. Tumnagel

dinner date

Since tomorrow is His Majesty The Kings Birthday, there will be no crazy Bangkok party night tonight, instead a bunch of us are going out to dinner at Kuppa. So RCA, Fat Gus, Khao Sarn, Bed and whatever else will all have to wait until another night. I wouldnx27t mind putting on Kasiax27s dress. Ix27m still hooked on everything that glimmers & sparkles! FYI. No alcohol is served or purchasable in Thailand during important public holidays, elections, etc. Hence alot of clubs/bars/pubs choose to stay closed on nights like these. Exceptions can be done/made at certain hotels around the city. Tumnagel

times of stress

New week, new adventures! This week we start work on a TV-production that will air in the spring. The days are gonna be long and hectic, but Ix27m looking forward to working with a fantastic team again. So Ix27m gonna try to keep you updated here despite the fact that Ix27m basically working 9-23 this week. P.S. You know you can email me at isabelle@feber.se Tumnagel

home

Ix27ve been busy fixing at home today. Washed 9 machines (!) of laundry, organized in my wardrobe, and threw out a bunch of magazines and boxes. Now its pretty much top notch! The reason for this, was since a film crew is coming over Monday to have a peak at my closet. I really should have refolded all my clothes but honestly who could be bothered? Folding clothes has to be the worst. Even ironing is more fun. Tumnagel

5 right now

- Due to this freakinx27 flu, Ix27m missing out on tonights dinner party / 25th birthday bash - What do you do when youx27re home alone on a Friday night? Suggestions? - Since i miss out on the above, and will be spending the evening home alone, Ix27m planning on making all the things my boyfriend hates for dinner. - The above (cooking all the things my bf hates) really isnx27t that bad of a point, Ix27m making the most out of the situation. Roasted veggies in the oven with chevré to start.... - I got an awesome new blouse today, that i canx27t wait to wear. - Ix27m so excited about my friend Amm coming from Bangkok tomorrow, i doubt Ix27ll be able to sleep tonight. Like a child on Christmas, craziness!! Thats all for now - i may add more as the night continues.... Tumnagel

sicko

Ok so the whole point of going to our country home was to set a side some time for relaxation and recuperation, after a few crazy work weeks. And what happens? I get crazy sick! I have the worst cold, and the timing could not have been more inappropriate. I have three important meetings tomorrow and not to mention the most important thing with this weekend is that my bestest friend is coming for a 48hour visit from Bangkok. So you see my dilema? I really dont have the time for this. Dear readers, how do i get rid of this cold? Besides the latest Vogue and Ginger & Lemon tea. Tumnagel

questions

I love the support I get from you all since I took the step to quit my full time job in HR, and focus on my dream. I get questions from you readers daily, both through Emails, Facebook, Twitter, and here about freelancing as a stylist. So i thought Ix27d answer some here for you all to read. I started my company about 6 weeks ago, and boy oh boy is it a lot of paperwork! Itx27s a jungle of receipts, invoices, and organization is the key. Ix27ve never studied business management in school so Ix27m pretty lost, but i try to read and find out as much as possible when it comes to value added tax, deductions, taxations and declarations. God i get bored just reading those words, but i think itx27s important to know how to run your company or have a general idea of how things work. The most important thing, is save your receipts! And organize everything per job, month or week, depending on how you invoice your work. If any of you readers have more tips and tricks please comment below and share! The gigs (as one reader so nicely put it), I get mostly through connections. Someone recommends you to someone else and viceversa. Itx27s not the type of business where you just call up a magazine and say x27Hey, can i do a job for you guys?x27. It is extremely competative, and most productions/event companies/editorial offices would rather stick with someone they know/have worked with prior rather than bring in someone new. Which is a bit sad, since itx27s usually the fresh/new ones that are driven to a 150%, or at least it should be that way! Hence my next point, always always give and do the best you can, you only really get one chance to impress. And word spreads quickly in this business, either youx27re good or no one will most likely hire you. Start at the bottom, try to assist someone, be willing to work for free. Days are long, early mornings till late hours. The weather isnx27t always on your side. Itx27s usually too hot, too cold, too rainy, too snowy, too windy. So no matter how lousy the situation may be, always be positive, it is what you make it. And despite the weather, the hours, the ironing, the folding, the carrying, or whatever it may be that youx27d usually consider boring, if you really want to be a stylist and to work within the Fashion Industry, you should find all of the above fun anyways, as it is all a learning process, and Hey, you get to work with what you love! Cause there are a million fantastic things that weigh up the less glamorous. Being able to create, knowing you came up with that idea, seeing your name in print, the people you meet, the things you learn, the mistake you make, seeing the final result and the credit you get. Now this has to be the longest post, ever! But I hope you gained something from it, Ix27ll answer more in another post! Tumnagel

busy woman

Friday night, and Ix27m at home in sweatpants (very fashionable), working, planning, sketching, moodboarding (yep, new word). Ix27ve got work up over my ears, but I love it that way. Busy, crazy, and impulsive. Now i just need some structure. These two weeks Ix27m filling in at my old job, you know office hours, working 9-5. Then i got the TV production gig every Saturday, and now Ix27m styling a film for a Swedish clothing brand Sunday, which Ix27m really looking forward to! So what Ix27m trying to get to is, please understand the lack of blog updates. P.S. Yep i even got dark circles under my eyes, hello puffy! Tumnagel
